João Ferreira defends his European Cup lead at the Hungarian Baja

João Ferreira and Filipe Palmeiro are returning to the Mini John Cooper Works T1+ from X-Raid, with which they will defend their lead in the European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas at the Hungarian Baja this coming weekend. After finishing on the podium in the Hungarian event in 2022, the year he became European Champion, João Ferreira is approaching the race with ambition and a strong desire to improve upon the third place he achieved at that time.

“It’s always nice to return to places where we have been happy, and this Hungarian race was part of a very beautiful journey we had in 2022. Now we want more. We want not only to defend our lead in the European Cup but also to try to extend our advantage over our closest rivals. We know we are well positioned to do this, but races are always unpredictable, so we must stay focused every kilometer and try to maintain a comfortable pace that allows us to fight for victory here in Hungary. We’re going all out for this race!” assured the young driver from Leiria, who is co-driven by Filipe Palmeiro.

The Hungarian event kicks off on August 8, with the departure ceremony scheduled for 8 PM local time. A prologue and three selective sectors are planned for Friday and Saturday, totaling 535 km, of which 400 km are timed. The Hungarian Baja takes place in the region of Varpalota, south of Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
