João Ferreira and Filipe Palmeiro finished the Baja Italy in 7th place overall. The 2022 European Champions returned to Italy with ambitions to fight for victory in the second round of the European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, after achieving a second place in 2022 and a third place in 2023. However, a slight problem in the first selective sector of the race ultimately delayed the Portuguese duo's chances for victory, although they managed to win the second and third sectors of the Italian event afterward.
Behind the wheel of the Mini JCW T1+ from X-Raid, the driver from Leiria finished the race satisfied, already looking ahead to the upcoming challenges: “Of course, when we come to win, we can’t leave the event completely happy with a seventh place. But the truth is that we couldn’t have done better after a slight battery issue that we felt in the first sector. From there on, we did our best and were consistently the fastest, so we have to believe that we did a good job and leave Italy with our heads held high, happy, and with our eyes set on the Baja Aragon and Baja Hungary, which take place within a month,” assured the young national driver.
The European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas continues in August with the Hungarian Baja, while in the meantime, João Ferreira and Filipe Palmeiro will participate in the Baja Aragon, a race that counts towards the World Cup and where the best drivers in the world are expected to compete.
